There are several types of cleaners out there and they are not all friendly. The main types are detergents, degreasers, abrasives and acids. Determining what a company uses around your family and

work place is paramount to your safety and the safety of your family, coworkers and customers.

A popular trend is to clean with vinegar, but this is not always safe. Vinegar is believe it or not an acetic acid and water combination and if not handled properly can cause eye and respiratory discomfort. A common issue follows with acids no matter how natural they are, this issue is skin irritation. If it is not all whipped away then when your little one lays they arms on the table or counter etc. they can form strong acidic reactions. You can also rust stainless steel appliances and corrode the sealants on your stone counters and hard wood surfaces if not properly diluted.

Degreasers are used in several settings. However they are not always used correctly and mixing the wrong types of solvents can cause some lethal results. For this reason I will say that in a normal household /work office situation I have not needed anything besides a mild soap and warm water. Many people say bleach will work but it is not a degreaser so please stay with your mild soap.

There are many cleaning companies that say they use safe cleaners but they are not safe for everyone. Companies that say there products are green or safe for children and pets should be able to back it up and feel free to ask them what they use a good company is not made out of proprietary cleaning supplies but instead buy unparalleled service.

With this in mind it’s a good start to look for a rating of how good it really is. Where do you start? The first place I would start is with the Environmental Working Group (EWG) or The Environmental Protection Agency safer choice (EPA). These two sources will help anyone who cares for children or animals such as a family home, day care, doggy daycare or anyone who enjoys the less harsh cleaners find the right cleaning supplies. At Bomax Professional Services it is company policy for all cleaners to carry an SDS or safety data sheet and any cleaner you hire should have one also because accidents do happen we strive to avoid them but be prepared for them.

My go to floor cleaner is Dr. Bronner’s Sal Suds. This is a multi-purpose cleaner that is plant based with a light essential oil made smell. It dilutes very easy and makes the floors clean and shiny. This cleaner is also able to be used on the counters, tiles, tubs and just about everything there is to clean I have even used it on faux wood blinds.

According to the Center for Disease (CDC) you shouldn’t need to disinfect or sanitize your living area unless someone was recently sick or you have individuals with immunity difficulties such as a medical condition, elderly and infants living in the same space. However, with Dr Bronner’s the germs and bacteria are removed instead of nullified.
